Calexico Fire Headquarters Station
Project Description:
From start to finish, Candice Wong worked closely with the City of Calexico’s Fire Design Committee through an in-depth process to replace the existing Fire Headquarters Station 1 facility. The existing facility does not meet the operational space requirements for staffing and essential equipment, nor the CA Essential Services Act.
The concept design includes three drive-through apparatus bays, living and sleeping quarters for six personnel, and administrative offices. The high-efficiency systems and building envelope will help Calexico to minimize the utility costs in the city’s desert climate. Ultimately, this durable and low-maintenance facility will house the fire department comfortably for the next 50 years.
